Draft Methodology Report Public Comment Period (2012)
PCORI's Methodology Committee, appointed by the Comptroller General of the United States, works to define and update methodological standards for patient-centered outcomes research and to develop a translation framework to guide healthcare stakeholders toward the best methods for patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR).
The first draft of the PCORI Methodology Report focused on the patient’s perspective. Future reports would address clinicians’, healthcare purchasers’, and policy makers’ perspectives in more detail.
The public comment period for the draft report opened on July 23, 2012, and closed on September 14, 2012.
After incorporating public input, the draft Methodology Report was considered for adoption by the PCORI Board of Governors at its November 2012 public meeting. As the new methods are implemented and verified, the report continued to be revised and improved, with the ongoing help of all healthcare stakeholders, to ensure that it remains the foundation for credible patient-centered outcomes research that can inform decision making.
