Join an expected 1,000 researchers, patients, caregivers, clinicians and others for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute’s next Annual Meeting, a report to the nation on how PCORI is working with the healthcare community to make health research more useful and relevant. This year’s meeting will focus on the emerging results of PCORI’s funded studies and efforts to provide that information to those who can use it to make better-informed healthcare decisions.
We are very pleased to announce that Alan Alda, the award-winning actor and a long-time advocate for improving science communication, will be one of our featured keynote speakers. In addition to his accomplished career as an actor, writer, and director, Alda has won the National Academy of Sciences Public Welfare Medal, the National Science Board’s Public Service Award, the Scientific American Lifetime Achievement Award and the American Chemical Society Award for Public Service, among others. He is a Visiting Professor at Stony Brook University’s Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, which has expanded its network of affiliate programs to 17 universities in the U.S. and Australia.

2017 PCORI Annual Meeting Scholarship Opportunities
Graduate Trainee Scholarship
This scholarship has been established to help new investigators learn the concepts and approaches used in patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) and comparative effectiveness research (CER). Scholarship recipients will participate in a pre-conference workshop and will be able to attend all sessions of the full annual meeting. The scholarship is appropriate for trainees who intend to pursue a career that includes involvement in PCOR/CER. The scholarship covers registration, hotel, travel, and a stipend for meals and other incidentals not provided during the meeting.

We are pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships to attend the annual meeting for PCORI Ambassadors and individual patients/caregivers, as well as representatives from patient and caregiver organizations (limit one per organization). Scholarship recipients will participate in a pre-conference programming and will be able to attend all sessions of the full annual meeting. Scholarships will cover travel, hotel, registration and a meal allowance during the conference for both the applicant and the caregiver (if medically required). Notifications of acceptance will be sent August 10, 2017.
