Alex D. Federman, MD, MPH, is Director of Research in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research focuses on self-management behaviors among and care delivery systems for older adults with complex chronic illnesses.

Federman provides care to adults in Mount Sinai Hospital’s primary care practice in New York City. He is also the principal investigator of a PCORI-funded project comparing the effectiveness of two patient-centered strategies for asthma management in older adults.

Federman received his medical degree from the State University of New York in 1996 and a Master of Public Health from Harvard University in 2001. He completed his residency training in primary care at Montefiore Medical Center in 1999.
