Alicia Thomas, MHS, is a Program Officer for the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Awards program at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Thomas is responsible for strategic decision-making and high-level management of the program, its funded projects, and activities that advance PCORI’s Engagement mission.

Before joining PCORI, Thomas was a senior program associate at Grantmakers In Health (GIH), a nonprofit, educational organization that helps foundations and corporate giving programs improve the health of all people. At GIH, Thomas oversaw the organization’s health disparities and maternal and child health issues areas.  Prior to joining GIH, Thomas was senior associate for The Lewin Group, a health care research and consulting firm, and a program associate at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.  Thomas has experience working with low-income and minority populations, conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, performing evidenced-based literature reviews, and planning and hosting topical meetings and conference sessions.

Thomas has a BS in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She also holds a MHS from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Population and Family Health Sciences, with a concentration in reproductive, perinatal, and women’s health. Thomas is currently completing a doctorate in public health, with a concentration in maternal and child health, from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
