Ana Maria Lopez, MD, MPH, FACP, is Vice Chair of Medical Oncology and Chief of Cancer Services, Jefferson Health New Jersey Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, NCI Designated Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and President of American College of Physicians.
Lopez has dedicated her career to ameliorating health inequities through community-based participatory research and through clinical trials that assess telecommunications technology to facilitate access to clinical care and education. Lopez has recognized expertise in cancer prevention and telemedicine, and has approximately 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and multiple book chapters. She has been continuously funded in health disparities research.
Lopez earned her MD from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology and Oncology, completed a Master of Public Health (Health Policy and Administration), and was awarded a Cancer Prevention and Etiology Fellowship (T32, NCI) at the University of Arizona.
Lopez previously served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Addressing Disparities and as a member of the Advisory Panel on Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research from August 2016 to August 2019.
