Brendaly Rodriguez, MA, CPH, currently leads the Chula Vista Community Collaborative near San Diego, California, operating five family resource centers in the area. Before that, she managed community and stakeholder engagement for the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, among other programs during her 18-year tenure at University of Miami.
She was also Adjunct Communication Studies faculty at Miami Dade College for five years. She has over 20 years of experience in developing and administering community-based interventions to address health disparities in the United States and Australia, having served as project manager in several community health worker (CHW) interventions in clinical trials. She has worked with local CHW stakeholder groups to develop, translate, and implement a structured educational program training around 600 CHWs in patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) across California, Texas, and Florida.
Rodríguez is co-lead of the PCORI-funded engagement award Partnership for Training Community Health Workers in PCOR in the Context of COVID-19 at the University of Miami and is the patient engagement lead of the PCORI-funded engagement award Building Research Capacity on Hearing Loss Interventions in Hispanic/Latinx Communities at the University of Arizona. She routinely provides technical assistance and volunteers on several regional, state, and national committees.
Rodriguez is the recipient of the 2017 Community Advocate Award from the Latino Center on Aging and the 2012 Sunshine Health Education Champion Award from the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Rodríguez served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Patient Engagement from August 2017 to August 2020. She joined PCORI as Senior Engagement Officer in 2021.
