Representing: Patients
James Pantelas began his advocacy efforts as a Patient and Family Centered Care Advisor at the University of Michigan’s Mott Children’s Hospital, which has been treating his daughter. There, he is an active board member on the Pediatric Ethics Committee and the only community member on the Executive Committee. He also helped create a Dad’s Council and is a regular speaker and advocate for patient perspectives at the university’s schools of medicine, nursing, and social work. His advocacy efforts include research and adult care. He sits on multiple IRBs at the University of Michigan and at St. Joseph Mercy Health System and is a member of PCORI’s Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment Options Advisory Panel. In addition, he sits on a variety of advisory boards as a Patient Experience Advisor at St. Joseph Mercy Health System, and has been a Lung Cancer Research Advocate with Free to Breathe, where he also sits on the operations oversight board.
