Katie Hughes, MA, PMP, is a Program Manager, Research Awards Management, in the Office of the Chief Science Officer at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). She previously served as a program manager in the Clinical Effectiveness and Decision Science program, a role in which she assessed, prioritized, and monitored portfolio management and operational resources related to program development and scientific oversight. Katie contributed to the pre-and post-award program activities, including convening research topic prioritization and monitoring execution of research awards.
Before joining PCORI, Hughes worked at the American Red Cross, the American Bar Association, and the US Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women. As a research assistant with the National Institute of Justice, she worked to rate the effectiveness of programs in informing practitioners and policy makers about evidence-based practices. She is a certified Project Management Professional with experience in contracts management, non-profit grants management, and research administration.
Hughes earned a BA in political science and psychology at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and an MA in criminology, law, and society at George Mason University.
