Sandra Finestone, PsyD, has two main areas of focus for her advocacy within the cancer community. Her primary focus is to ensure that the patient voice is always part of the research environment. She has a doctorate in psychology and is very concerned about the lack of support given to patients dealing with the immense psychological burden of a cancer diagnosis and the absence of ongoing support for patients after their initial treatment is completed. There is much work that needs to be done to ensure patients receive appropriate psychological support, not only at the time of diagnosis but continuing as they deal with the aftermath of treatment.
