Project Summary

The annual UMHS Adolescent Health Initiative Conference on Adolescent Health is an avenue for translating adolescent health research into practice. This event draws a multidisciplinary audience of researchers, physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare and public health professionals from across the country. Developed with meaningful adolescent engagement, the Conference on Adolescent Health includes skills-building workshop sessions that aim to improve specific clinical practices, breakout and plenary sessions focused on topics relevant to patient-centered care, poster-viewing sessions to disseminate high-integrity professional and student research from across the country, and connection sessions to foster ongoing learning, professional development, and networking opportunities throughout the year. Through these activities, attendees will improve their understanding of patient-centered approaches and identify ways to make meaningful changes in research and practice.

The projected outputs from this project are a conference to disseminate high-integrity research findings and best practices; inspiring additional ways to engage patients and stakeholders in research and healthcare delivery; and improvement of patient-centered research and provider practice.

Project collaborators include youth scholars and Teen Advisory Council (TAC) members.
