Project Summary

America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) will work with PCORI leaders to: facilitate education, engagement, and ongoing dialogue between AHIP’s members and PCORI leaders to promote understanding of PCORI’s role, clear communication, sharing ideas, and opportunities to convey priority topics for research; build and maintain support from health plan leaders as key stakeholders to enable actionable research, implementation of results, and long-term sustainability of PCORI’s mission. AHIP is the lead organization representing the health insurance industry and uniquely positioned to convene health plan leaders to engage with PCORI as partners in research. AHIP will convene an annual session with C-level leaders of health plans and PCORI to discuss engagement and expectations as stakeholders. AHIP will also create an interest group of health plans for regular teleconferences to sustain health plan engagement with PCORI.

The projected outputs from this project are maintaining open channels of communication to facilitate engagement between stakeholders and other key users and individuals through a session at the AHIP institute; and roundtable sessions and work groups/interest groups.

Project collaborators include Health Plan Chief Medical Officers.
