Lower- and higher-dose aspirin achieve similar protection and safety for people with cardiovascular disease

People with cardiovascular disease (CVD) taking aspirin to lower their chances of suffering a heart attack or stroke experienced similar health benefits, including reduced death and hospitalization for heart attack and stroke, whether they took a high or low dose of aspirin, according to a study presented today at ACC.21, the American College of Cardiology’s 70th Annual Scientific Session and published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

PCORI Board approves allocating up to $50 million in funding for research related to COVID-19, $25 million to support 10 new research studies

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Board of Governors today, building on its rapid response to the COVID-19 health crisis, approved allocating up to $50 million in additional funding for new projects in PCORI’s COVID-19 funding opportunities, as well as enhancements to existing PCORI-funded studies. The research will help provide answers to difficult COVID-19 related questions faced by patients, providers and health systems.
