PCORI's Board of Governors approves 34 new members to multi-stakeholder advisory panels

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Board of Governors yesterday approved proposed slates with a total of 34 people to serve on PCORI’s five multi-stakeholder advisory panels for three-year terms. Panelists were chosen from 235 nominees. In addition, the Board approved the appointments of current advisory panel members to serve as chairs and co-chairs for four advisory panels.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) today began inviting proposals for new studies and implementation projects through 11 funding opportunities, including the first focused specifically on PCORI Topic Themes. These PCORI Funding Announcements (PFAs) include up to $610 million for patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) studies that compare health care options to generate evidence that helps patients and those who care for them make better-informed choices.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) today announced the approval of $9 million for the first seven studies through its groundbreaking Science of Engagement initiative. An unprecedented research program dedicated to funding studies to demonstrate how best to engage patients, caregivers and other health care community members in comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) and other health research, the initiative aims to grow a more robust evidence base to advance patient-centered, community-driven approaches to conducting research.
