WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 16, 2013) -- PCORnet, the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network, is a developing national electronic resource that will support faster, more efficient clinical outcomes research through the power of patient data. Representatives, including researchers, patients and other stakeholders from the 29 individual health data networks, who will form the “network of networks,” will hold kick-off meetings in Washington, DC, on January 21-23 to share strategies and best practices for scaling up comparative effectiveness research (CER) facilitated by this ambitious new electronic infrastructure. PCORnet is supported by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), which has invested more than $100 million to fund the build out and integration of 11 health system-based networks, 18 networks organized by patients and their partners, and the Coordinating Center that will make up the overarching national network.
