Users' Guide to Integrating Patient-Reported Outcomes in Electronic Health Records

This Users' Guide is the product of a multi-stage process. A Steering Group advised on the overall strategy, developed a list of the key questions to be addressed in the Users' Guide, and helped identify appropriate experts to address these questions. Two experts with complementary backgrounds and expertise were selected to address each question of the Users' Guide, constituting the Working Group. The Steering/Working Group developed and reviewed draft sections in an iterative process. In addition, the question list and draft Users' Guide were circulated for comment by external stakeholders prior to finalization. View additional resources from the May 2017 meeting.

This Users' Guide will facilitate integration of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in the electronic health record (EHR), enabling use of PRO data for multiple clinical, research, and administrative applications, and thereby promoting patient-centered care.
