The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) hosted a webinar -- An Applicant and a Couple of Reviewers Walk into a Webinar: Lessons Learned from PCORI Merit Review -- that provided updates on our unique approach to reviewing proposals for funding. We use data from multiple review cycles to understand the role of patients and stakeholders in PCORI merit review, PCORI’s unique review criteria, and changes to PCORI’s review process over time. During the webinar, we highlighted the unique benefits and opportunities for improvement related to PCORI’s approach to proposal review. In addition, a panel of past reviewers and applicants discussed their experiences with PCORI merit review.

We invited input in the following ways:

  • Send questions or comments in advance of the webinar.
  • Join the conversation on Twitter during the webinar using #PCORI.
  • Share comments and questions during the public comment period of the webinar.
