2017 PCORI Annual Meeting Breakout Session - Helping People Understand Cancer Treatment Options
Date:

Location:

Session Summary
Making decisions about cancer treatment can be particularly difficult due to the serious nature of the condition and the need to balance the potential for benefits and harms of what are often widely varying treatment options. This session discussed three PCORI-funded studies that evaluate different treatments with the goal of helping patients understand their cancer treatment alternatives. The session also focused on how, in these studies, providing evidence about cancer treatment outcomes and helping patients understand their own preferences around outcomes can help people better understand their cancer treatment options and make informed decisions about care.
