2017 PCORI Annual Meeting Breakout Session - Why Methods Matter: Putting Research to Work for Individual Patients
Date:
- -
Location:
In person
Session Summary
A treatment that works well for some patients may be ineffective or even harmful for others. If studies do not account for this variation, it is difficult for patients and clinicians to make informed health decisions. Heterogeneity of treatment effect (HTE) is the technical term that describes variability in treatment responses. This session provided an overview of the concept of HTE, the methodological issues it raises, and research design considerations to address these issues.
