About Mark Smith

Mark Smith is a nationally recognized health policy expert. He is perhaps best known as Founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the California Health Care Foundation, which he led from 1996 to 2013. He built the Foundation into a leader in promoting innovation in healthcare delivery, public reporting of care quality and access, and applying new technology in care. Prior to that position, Smith was Executive Vice President of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, where he oversaw programs in HIV, reproductive health, and the healthcare marketplace. He maintains an active clinical practice in HIV at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
