During this session, we reviewed the fundamentals of high-quality comparative clinical effectiveness research. We started with an overview of findings from meta-research (research on the practice of research) and the imperative to improve quality and reduce waste in research. We also discussed common challenges related to data quality, study design, and analytic methods. We also introduced PCORI’s updated Methodology Standards and showed how they can be used to improve the quality of clinical research.
