On April 30, 2018, the Board convened in Washington, D.C. for its monthly meeting, where it approved $74 million to support nine research projects on the treatment of opioid use disorders, obesity, and other comparative clinical effectiveness topics. That includes $10 million to support two research studies on medication-assisted treatment for pregnant women with opioid use disorders.
The Board also approved more than $20 million for four studies that will use PCORnet, the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network, to test ways to improve care for people with arthritis, blood pressure, depression and irritable bowel disease. In addition, the Board adopted new additions to the PCORI Methodology Standards, among other business.
This in-person meeting was also available via teleconference/webinar for anyone unable to attend in person.
All in-person Board meetings include a public comment period. Individuals could register to provide comment on-site, while those unable to attend in person can provide comment via telephone. (Guidelines for Public Comments). There were no requests to provide public comment at this meeting.
