2020 PCORI Virtual Annual Meeting Breakout Session
Many children and adolescents in the United States who need mental health services don’t get them. This is particularly concerning given the recent rise in suicide rates among youth, especially in low-income, minority, and rural populations. This breakout session highlights two PCORI-funded projects that seek to improve vulnerable youths’ access to mental health services through school-based interventions. These projects focus on depression and executive functioning. The projects represent different stages along the research-implementation continuum, providing a range of perspectives that will allow a comprehensive conversation. Because of the challenges involved in conducting research and implementing interventions in a school setting and the need for collaboration among stakeholders, the discussion will include a school representative or other non-researcher stakeholder.
