In recognition of Bladder Health Month in November, PCORI will host a Wikipedia edit-a-thon focused on updating Wikipedia articles with information about urinary incontinence (UI). Wikipedia is a well-known and well-used resource visited by over 500 million people a month, including patients, families, medical students, and clinicians. Integrating research findings into health and healthcare-related Wikipedia articles can help reach people where they are seeking information.
The two-hour webinar will introduce Wikipedia and how basic Wikipedia editing works. Participants will learn about how Wikipedia actively monitors the editing of medical and health-related articles. Attendees will begin editing articles in real-time during the session. The session will end with a debrief and suggested next steps and ongoing support. No previous Wikipedia editing experience is expected of participants.
