Improving Postpartum Maternal Outcomes for Populations Experiencing Disparities


This PFA will solicit applications that respond to the following question: What is the comparative effectiveness of multicomponent interventions to improve early detection of, and timely care for, risk factors for postpartum complications and for complications during the first six weeks postpartum for Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Hispanic, rural, and low socioeconomic status patients?

Broad Pragmatic Studies


This PFA covers four broad areas -- Addressing Disparities; Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment Options; Communication and Dissemination Research; and Improving Healthcare Systems -- that encompass the patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) that PCORI has long supported. Under this PFA, PCORI has identified four Special Areas of Emphasis to support innovative, high-impact studies that fit clearly within our core mission of patient-engaged and patient-centered CER.

Improving Methods for Conducting Patient-Centered Outcomes Research


Through this PFA, PCORI aims to fund studies that address high-priority methodological gaps in patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) and CER, as well as projects that address important methodological gaps and lead to improvements in the strength and quality of evidence generated by PCOR/CER studies.
