In recognition of Asthma Awareness Month, PCORI hosted a public Wikipedia edit-a-thon focused on updating Wikipedia articles with information about asthma.

The two-hour webinar introduced Wikipedia and how basic editing on the site works. Participants could learn about Wikipedia’s active monitoring of edits to medical and health-related articles and what types of edits are acceptable.

Attendees could begin editing articles in real time during the session. The edit-a-thon ended with a debrief and suggested next steps and ongoing support. Participants did not need to have previous Wikipedia editing experience.
