It often takes years for new evidence from clinical research to influence health care. Many times, these findings never reach patients and families who could benefit from the information.

Promoting the uptake of research findings is part of PCORI’s legal mandate to improve the quality and relevance of evidence available to help patients, caregivers, clinicians, and others make better-informed health decisions. PCORI’s release of new evidence begins with posting short, understandable summaries of all research findings soon after a study’s results are final. Our efforts continue with programs and activities to promote awareness of findings from PCORI-funded research (dissemination) and to facilitate the uptake of research findings in practice settings (implementation).

What Else Do We Do?

We submit findings from PCORI-funded research to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), which has an initiative to disseminate promising patient-centered outcomes research findings.

Learn about the Dissemination and Implementation Framework and Toolkit, which PCORI created as part of strategic planning for its activities to increase the awareness of evidence and promote its integration into practice.
