Christine LM Joseph, PhD, MPH, received a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She is currently a senior epidemiologist at Henry Ford Health System and Director of the HFHS Health Disparities Research Collaborative. Joseph’s work focuses on urban health and health disparities and on improving the health of underserved and vulnerable populations. She currently directs federally funded research on asthma, obesity, and patient self-management. She has directed the development, implementation, and evaluation of a web-based asthma management program for urban teenagers with asthma that has won both international and national awards. Joseph championed the Race, Ethnicity, and Primary Language Data Collection Taskforce at HFHS to redesign how this information is collected in order to meet Institute of Medicine recommendations and Meaningful Use requirements. An important component of this effort was the community input that guided the implementation. Winner of the HFHS Shadow of a Leader Award and the HFHS Diversity Hero Award, Joseph is committed to addressing health and healthcare disparities at the patient and institutional level.

Joseph previously served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Addressing Disparities and a member of the Advisory Panel on Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research from August 2016 to August 2019.
