Alan B. Cohen, MS, ScD is Professor of Health Policy and Management at Boston University School of Management. For more than thirty years, he has evaluated strategies for improving healthcare quality, access, and affordability, assessed quality improvement programs, and analyzed healthcare systems in several Western industrialized nations. He previously held faculty positions at The Johns Hopkins University and Brandeis University, and was Vice President for Research and Evaluation at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). He is principal author of Technology in American Health Care: Policy Directions for Effective Evaluation and Management and is an elected member of the National Academy of Social Insurance. He currently directs two health policy research programs for RWJF. He received a BA from the University of Rochester and a MS and ScD in health policy and management from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Cohen served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Improving Healthcare Systems from April 2013 - April 2015.
