Alexis Snyder is a Patient Family and Community Engagement Specialist with a focus on patient centered outcomes research (PCOR) and Health IT. As a parent of a young adult with complex medical needs, Snyder has a unique perspective on healthcare delivery and the systems of care available to patients living with medical complexity and rare disease. She is an advisor to several regional and national agencies that include the National Quality Forum, the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service (CCHERS), and CMS. She is a current member of the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee of the Office of the National Coordinator.
Snyder is passionate about PCOR and a strong promoter of PCORI’s mission as a merit reviewer, peer review editorial board member, and ambassador. She has participated in a number of Eugene Washington Engagement Awards that include Franciscan Help Families Connect, and Boston BRI…DGE where she was a Co-Investigator of the project that convened, organized, and supported capacity of stakeholders to become engaged in research partnerships and to facilitate relationships between stakeholders and researchers and academic institutions for research equity and impact. Snyder is the Co-Author and Co-editor of The Patient and the Health Care System: Perspectives on High-Quality Care (Springer 2020). Additionally, she and her daughter also work to spread awareness and understanding for invisible disabilities. Her blog series, Invisible Disabilities, has received global recognition.
Snyder previously served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Improving Healthcare Systems and the Advisory Panel on Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research from August 2016 to August 2019.
