Alison Rein, MS, is a Senior Director for Evidence Generation and Translation at AcademyHealth.  In this role, she directs several projects that investigate how new sources of data and expanded stakeholder engagement are helping to transform health care and research.

Rein is the principal investigator on a PCORI contract that actively manages and facilitates collaboration among 50 pilot projects to advance the field of patient centered outcomes research (PCOR).  And, with support from The Commonwealth Fund and the Office of the National Coordinator, she directs efforts to assist Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program participants in identifying, documenting, and disseminating the lessons and results of their individual initiatives. Ms. Rein also oversees or contributes to projects that focus on building infrastructure to support quality improvement, comparative effectiveness research, and PCOR.

Rein has expertise in health IT policy, stakeholder engagement, comparative effectiveness research, information management and governance, and community-based quality improvement, and has written and presented on a number of these topics. With over 16 years of experience in the health care field, she brings a range of skills to her work, including technical assistance design and execution; collaborative network development; research design; and policy analysis.

Prior to joining AcademyHealth, Rein was assistant director of food and health policy at the National Consumers League (NCL). Prior to joining NCL, She served as a health care consultant to a number of private and nonprofit organizations for which she conducted strategic assessments, market studies, and other research efforts aimed at evaluating the relative-effectiveness of numerous drug, biologic, and device interventions. Rein holds a master's degree in public policy analysis from the University of Rochester.
