Angela Smith is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Department of Urology in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is a urologic oncologist at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she treats genitourinary malignancies, including bladder, prostate and kidney cancers. She has a background in health services research and biostatistics with particular interests in patient-centered outcomes research, risk stratification, and quality of care for invasive bladder cancer. Her commitment to PCORI’s mission includes the integration of focus groups and patient involvement in surgical settings. Serving on the advisory panel, she plans to represent the importance of incorporating PROs into surgical research questions. She received a BS and BA in biostatistics and music performance as well as an MD from the University of North Carolina, where she completed her urology residency. She also has a Master’s degree in clinical research from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Smith served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment Options from Spring 2014 - Spring 2017.
