Brian Bankes is a patient stakeholder co-investigator for a PCORI-funded project PREPARE NOW. He has been a patient at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, since 1987. His medical history includes two kidney transplants. He is currently on home hemodialysis awaiting his third transplant.
He has completed an eight-week training course from the Northeast PA Kidney Foundation to counsel newly diagnosed renal failure patients and their families. He has also given numerous lectures for Gift of Life to educate both professionals and patients. Throughout his involvement with kidney failure, he has joined and participated with numerous organizations pertaining to patient education. With these programs, he has built a strong network of knowledgeable friends and professionals.
