Carol Santana participated in a Summer Scholars Program at Baystate Medical Center where she worked on an ongoing clinical research project to design and refine a decision aid to facilitate shared decision-making in the emergency department. In her role she recruited noncritical patients to participate in focus groups to gain information on the patient perspective. As an Ambassador, she hopes to network with others to improve the quality of research, especially research related to health disparities and patient-centered outcomes.
