Deborah Mullen has worked in health care over the past 30 years and in research for the last 10 of those years. She is interested in the applied and practical implementation and translation of research into daily care delivery. Mullen has worked in many segments of health care and sees many places where the voice of the patient and their families can lead to innovative and radical improvements in the healthcare system as well as in the quality of care delivered. She is a trained mixed methodologist (qualitative and quantitative) with experience in rigorous quality improvement as well as research within the community. Her doctorate degree is in Health Services Research–Policy and Administration. As a PCORI Ambassador, Mullen enjoys inviting more diverse and broader voices into research. She was motived to join the program to help encourage others to give voice to their experiences, as it will better the health care offered to communities.

Ambassador Interests

Health Conditions Health Conditions These are the broad terms we use to categorize our funded research studies; specific diseases or conditions are included within the appropriate larger category. Note: not all of our funded projects focus on a single disease or condition; some touch on multiple diseases or conditions, research methods, or broader health system interventions. Such projects won’t be listed by a primary disease/condition and so won’t appear if you use this filter tool to find them. View Glossary
Populations Populations PCORI is interested in research that seeks to better understand how different clinical and health system options work for different people. These populations are frequently studied in our portfolio or identified as being of interest by our stakeholders. View Glossary
