Elinor Randi Schoenfeld, PhD, is a Research Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Ophthalmology at Stony Brook University (SBU) School of Medicine. As an epidemiologist with over 30 years of NIH-funded community-engaged research, she has focused on improving health and addressing health disparities. Her research has centered on understanding disease causes, and encouraging early detection and prevention of cancer, diabetes, eye diseases, periodontal disease, obesity, and osteoporosis in diverse populations. She was recognized by Hadassah, the Suffolk County Executive, and the SBU Alumni Association for her commitment to overcoming health disparities and improving health within the community. She is the Associate Director of the SBU MS Program in Clinical Research, training and mentoring future clinical researchers. She received her BS in biology from SBU, and her MS and PhD with a concentration in epidemiology and cancer control from the University at Buffalo.

Schoenfeld served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research from Fall 2015 - Spring 2018.
