Genevieve Fire-Halvorsen is a licensed civil engineer who became interested in patient-centered health care issues as a result of her own journey of over eight years to a heart condition diagnosis. As a result of this experience, she has provided peer-to-peer counseling to many others with her condition; participated in several studies and data collection efforts through Health eHeart, Carnegie-Mellon, and the FDA; consented to being in a Medscape TV video series to help healthcare providers diagnose and treat patients with her condition; offered her story to be included in a book about athletes with heart conditions; and joined WomenHeart as a Mayo Clinic-trained volunteer. She is interested in becoming more involved with educating healthcare professionals regarding diagnoses in patients with her heart condition.

Health Conditions
These are the broad terms we use to categorize our funded research studies; specific diseases or conditions are included within the appropriate larger category. Note: not all of our funded projects focus on a single disease or condition; some touch on multiple diseases or conditions, research methods, or broader health system interventions. Such projects won’t be listed by a primary disease/condition and so won’t appear if you use this filter tool to find them.
