Giselle Corbie-Smith, MD, MSc, Kenan Distinguished Professor, Departments of Social Medicine and Medicine at UNC School of Medicine, is nationally recognized for her scholarly work on the practical and ethical issues regarding engaging communities of color in research to address disparities in health. She is the Director of the UNC Center for Health Equity Research, Co-Directs the Program on Health Disparities at the Sheps Center for Health Services Research. Dr. Giselle Corbie-Smith also serves as Director of the Community Academic Resources for Engaged Scholarship (CARES), of the NC Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS). Her prior research includes testing and disseminating community based interventions using community engaged methods to address HIV prevention, cardiovascular health in rural communities, and promotora led mental health promotion.
Corbie-Smith was a member of the Advisory Panel on Clinical Trials Subcommittee on Recruitment, Accrual, and Retention.
