Heather M. Rice, Ph.D., CPNP-PC, PMHS, is an assistant professor and researcher at Cleveland State University College of Health (School of Nursing). She is also a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. Rice earned her doctorate in nursing science from Case Western Reserve University in 2017. She has received several awards recognizing her commitment to the community. She has been named a Top 25 under 35 Mover and Shaker in Cleveland and was a finalist for Nurse of the Year in Psychiatry by the March of Dimes. She was also named one of “Ohio’s Great Nurses” by the Ohio Nurses Foundation and Ohio Nurses Association.

Rice's program of research focuses on maternal health, mental wellness, reproductive justice, toxic stress and infant mortality in the African American community. She is a passionate advocate working in partnership with community organizations, including: Birthing Beautiful Communities, Pregnant with Possibilities Resource Center and Village of Healing Center.
