As a construction manager and developer, Jan Hilgeman’s education and professional experience are far from medical research, but as a seven-year survivor of stage IV pancreatic cancer, she has been an active participate in her diagnosis and treatment. She is a volunteer with Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered, a patient advocacy group that participates in a PCORI Patient-Powered Research Network.
