Jaye Bea Smalley, MPA, was an Engagement Officer at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). She acted as a liaison between the Engagement and Science teams as active portfolio management is carried out. Her service at PCORI spanned from 2013 to November 2016.
Smalley first came to PCORI as a National Urban Fellow and worked as Special Assistant to the Chief Officer for Engagement. Before PCORI, she spent 14 years at Genentech, managing accounts throughout New York City and contributing to cross-functional initiatives to support the needs of patients and healthcare stakeholders.
Smalley’s career goals have been shaped by facing the education and health barriers unique to families who have children with special health care needs. She was elected to New York City’s Citywide Council on Special Education and served two terms as co-chair. She is also a member of Manhattan Community Board 7.
Smalley earned a BA in art history from the University of Arizona and an MPA from the Bernard M. Baruch School of Public Affairs at the City University of New York. She also is a graduate of NYS Partners in Policymaking, a national model of leadership training for people with disabilities, and their parents and family members.
