In her professional work, Jennifer Winner has focused on simulation-based training and training outcomes, including skill acquisition for providers. Currently, her work focuses on the context of the military health system. She experienced a significant personal health event which required her to recover from a spinal fusion surgery, which significantly broadened her perspective. She expanded her interests to include patient-focused topics such as treatment burden. Her personal experience has highlighted the impact of patient/provider communication on patient outcomes and the challenges patients experience when dealing with severe and sudden mobility limitations. She hopes to leverage her training in research and business Master of Science in applied psychology and Master of Business Administration) to help facilitate and promote improved health care.
