Joan O’Connell PhD, is a health economist at the Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health at the Colorado School of Public Health, University of Colorado Denver. As principal investigator of a PCORI-funded project, O'Connell leads a study of cardiovascular disease among study of diabetes and cardiovascular disease among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people who live throughout the U.S. The study uses a data infrastructure that includes 7 years of data for AI/AN people who obtain services from Indian Health Service and Tribal providers. O'Connell is an advisor to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Tribal Technical Advisory Group and teaches two courses on global health at the Colorado School of Public Health. (More)
