Johanna Bergan
Youth MOVE National - Staff Member

Johanna Bergan serves as the Executive Director of a youth- and consumer-run organization working to improve youth-serving systems including mental health, child welfare, and juvenile justice systems. A key part of the portfolio she leads is a research agenda, led by young people with lived experience. This effort has frequently connected Johanna’s team to PCORI-funded research efforts where they have participated in research design, recruitment, and support of participation of young people and their families in research, analysis of data from a lived-experience lens, and participation in publication and dissemination activities. They have partnered closely with Rutgers University in PCORI-funded research and served as effective recruitment and dissemination partners with other PCORI-funded efforts. Johanna’s professional experience is in nonprofit management and youth engagement. She is an advocate for increasing lived experience in research and evaluation and believes the world will only improve by listening to those that have lived in the spaces that researchers are working to improve. She is interested in being connected to a network of individuals supportive of the PCORI vision and amplifying opportunities for young people to connect to research pathways.
