Julie Powers works to provide direct service to patients, families, and caregivers with bone marrow failure diseases, helping them to understand current research into curative treatments for these very rare diseases. She spends much of her time developing educational tools and implementing programs that help patients understand their role in research and its potential impact on their lives. As a longtime participant in clinical trials herself, she has a unique perspective and position, between research and treatment. As a professional patient advocate and educator, she is motivated to bring her personal and professional lives together to help researchers better prioritize the needs of patients while still maintaining academic rigor and research standards.
