LaRita B. Jacobs, MA, has been involved in patient advocacy for more than 20 years after being diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases as a young mother. As a patient stakeholder, she represents the patient perspective in her activities at PCORI. She holds a Master of Arts in Communications from George Mason University and was a college professor until her health required a change. Currently, she is a freelance medical and human interest journalist. Jacobs is also an entertaining seminar speaker who presents to medical and patient groups. Jacobs has received many awards for her advocacy including being a three-time Platinum Level Ambassador with the Arthritis Foundation. Jacobs served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Communication and Dissemination Research from Fall 2015 to Fall 2017, when it was integrated into the Clinical Effectiveness Decision and Science (CEDS) Advisory Panel. Jacobs served on the CEDS Advisory Panel from Fall 2017 to Fall 2018.
