Lashondria Purnell’s first exposure to PCORI was through a charitable clinic in Oak Lawn, Il, called Worry Free Clinic. This clinic is faith-based and was established by the Muslim community. They offered a community health workers training centering on PCORI's guidelines for research and effective endeavors towards patient advocacy. Lashondria has practiced as a Registered Nurse for 25 years. She has gained experience in various genres and is passionate about home health nursing, in which she has experience with both adults and children. She has also worked in the fields of infusion therapy, private duty, hospice, and home health. She also worked as a Hospice Liaison. In the past 17 years, Lashondria has also served as a Medical Missionary primarily to Africa and Haiti. Currently, she serves as a Faith Community Nurse for the City of Chicago. Her role is to provide health education with spiritual care. She will soon graduate as a Positive Psychologist and finds great delight in seeing lives transformed by principles supporting humans to flourish. Lashondria was motivated to become involved with the Ambassador Program to develop stronger skills in research and add greater value to stakeholders willing to make a difference in their wellbeing.
