Martin Zaworski

Martin Zaworski’s professional experiences related to PCORI include volunteering with the Alliance for Aging Research, where he attended two "Talk Nerdy" training programs. In addition, he has attended two half-day atrial fibrillation (AFib) conference sponsored by AFib Foundation, where he had an opportunity to participate with top physicians in the field, including cardiologists and electrophysiologists. As a result, he became actively involved in managing his own clinical care, leading him to a successful treatment plan at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Zaworski is currently involved with the newly formed Voices of Afib Patients (VoAFP.org), where he is conducting a literature review to prepare for the initial phase of a pilot survey development. His responsibilities encompass survey development, validation and administration. Zaworski’s research experience includes leading research projects and conducting research as part of his doctoral studies and subsequent professional career after earning his doctoral degree. Although his research has not specifically centered around patient-focused or medical subjects, Zaworski possesses a solid comprehension of and proficiency in conducting scientifically grounded research. The impetus behind his decision to join the Ambassador Program stems from his decade-long experience as an AFib patient, emphasizing the crucial role of patient representation in treatment protocols and clinical research initiatives. Zaworski firmly believes that his combination of firsthand patient experience and formal research training positions him uniquely to contribute as an ambassador.
