Martina Raquel Gallagher, an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, teaches community health nursing, nursing research, and application of multicultural concepts to the health care of Latinos in the United States. Her research focus is on the prevention and treatment of obesity and its cardiovascular sequelae in Latino families, and she plans to incorporate healthy sleep education into weight loss/management interventions in community settings. She received a BSN, MS in Nursing Administration of Community and Healthcare Systems and a PhD in Clinical Nursing Research, emphasizing health promotion of Latino families, from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington School of Nursing, where she studied basic sleep concepts, data collection, analysis, and interpretation of sleep measures in Latino community settings.
Gallagher served as a member of the Advisory Panel on Addressing Disparities from April 2014 - April 2017.
