"Mary Akhtar is currently working on a PCORI-funded research project, ""Elders Preserving Independence in the Community"" (EPIC) at Cedars Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) in Los Angeles, CA. She started working at CSMC as a Research Operations Manager within the Nursing Institute in September 2021. Her role is to manage the contract, financial, and business administration activities within the Nursing Research Department. For EPIC, she managed the budget and milestone development and contract execution. Mary has a BS in Biological Sciences (pre-med) from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and an MPH in Public Health from the University of Washington, with a professional background in clinical operations and development. She also plans to pursue a DrPH. She was motivated to become a PCORI Ambassador to help facilitate building a research network, as well as to develop her knowledge about PCORI funding and policies."
