Matt Cheung
University of the Pacific, School of Pharmacy – Adjunct Professor
Stanford University – Stakeholder on Study Advisory Committee, PCORI-funded Study

Matthias Cheung received his Bachelor of Science in pharmacy and a doctorate in pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Wisconsin. He completed three years of postdoctoral research in molecular biology at the University of Western Ontario prior to practicing clinical pharmacy as a specialist in OB/GYN and perinatology. He is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, where he has served on many committees. His experience in patient-centered outcomes research includes being a cofounder of a fetal risk assessment program, monitoring a research program for maternal exposure to drugs and chemicals, pioneering a medication outcomes evaluation and monitoring program praised as a model by the Joint Commission, recruiting for multicentered clinical trials, and conducting outcomes research for 20 years. Since 2012, Cheung has played an active role as a merit reviewer, peer reviewer, chair of the Advisory Panel on Rare Disease, and Ambassador because he feels supporting PCORI has been the most meaningful and rewarding work he has ever performed to improve treatment evidence for patients, caregivers, and providers. Before he became an Ambassador, he enjoyed sharing information about PCORI with academic researchers and students through meeting presentations. He has helped faculty write and submit project proposals. Currently, he is collaborating with other PCORI Ambassadors in his area to continue to promote and support PCORI research.
